Restaurant Chef Bio Ms. Madhur Jaffrey, an Internationally renowned Cook Book Author, actress and teacher is the Driving and Guiding Force at Dawat. Her genius for creating innovative Indian dishes and adapting classic Indian Cooking to contemporary taste has earned her wide spread acclaim and positioned "Dawat" amongst the finest Restaurants in New York. Indeed it has set the standards by which other Indian Restaurants are measured. Many of the specialty items in the menu are from Ms.Madhur Jaffrey's personal recipes and are unique to Dawat. Ms.Madhur Jaffrey has received a number of Prestigious Awards. Recently for the year 2004 she was conferred to Title of Hon. C.B.E. (Commander of British Empire) by her Exellency Queen Elizabeth II of United Kingdom. She also received the James Beard Award for Best International Cookbook "Curries to Kebab". For the same book, which is her most recent one, she was awarded "Cookery Book of the Year" from the Guild of British Food Writers. |
